​How to decide on your company's name?

When starting a new business, coming up with a name is one of the most important and also one of the most difficult tasks. Here are a few rules that you should follow to get the most out of your name.

Business naming guidelines:

• Make sure that it's easy to say and easy to spell – even large companies have this issue sometimes (is it Nike or Nikey?) You don’t want potential customers failing to find your company when they search for it because they can't spell your name correctly.

• Have a strong visual identity – make sure you have a strong logo and consistent branding so people who are looking at your business immediately get the right impression

• Make it memorable – choose a name that isn’t boring, and stands out from your competitors. Often a name that conjures up an image works well. For instance 'Funky Pigeon' is more likely to stick in your memory than 'Stewart Cards & Gifts'.
